Information Security

Information Security Special Interest Group (IS SIG) was officially formed on 23rd October 2008 and is the official student chapter of Association of Information Security Professionals (AISP, http://www.aisp.org.sg/). It was founded by three SIS students, Jacob, Lex Seetoh and Sunil, who aspire to extend opportunities to SMU students keen in Information Security. Sunil, who served as the president, has graduated recently and is now the student adviser to the Executive Committee, while Jacob and Lex Seetoh are currently the vice presidents of the SIG.

IS SIG strongly believes that Information Security is not just only for SIS students in the SMU community. The objectives of the SIG are: To create awareness of Information Security, inner workings in the industry and updates, and to create opportunities for students in the security industries via events (such as workshops, seminars, talks, conferences, and forums), internships and projects.

As the official student chapter of AISP, the SIG promises an avenue of interaction with some of the biggest names in the working world, and if possible, internships with those companies as well. To name a few, we have OCBC, Microsoft, Pricewaterhousecoopers, Ernst & Young, and more!
